Metteuse en scène, dramaturge et productrice primée, Alisa se distingue par des mises en scène saisissantes, une utilisation audacieuse de la musique, des images fortes et un engagement passionné envers la vie politique.
Ses productions ont été acclamées dans des théâtres partout au Canada et à l’étranger, notamment au Shaw Festival, au Stratford Shakespeare Festival (où elle a récemment mis en scène la première mondiale de Hamlet-911 d’Ann-Marie MacDonald), au Canadian Stage et au CNA. Elle a récemment mis en scène et co-adapté (avec Hannah Moscovitch) Fall On Your Knees, qui a fait une tournée au Canada en 2023 et reviendra sur les planches du Crow’s Theatre en 2027.
Alisa a été directrice artistique du Nightwood Theatre, où elle a commandé et produit des spectacles marquants, notamment Harlem Duet de Djanet Sears et Smudge d’Alex Bulmer, la première pièce professionnelle au Canada écrite par un dramaturge malvoyant. Elle a été metteuse en scène attitrée pour la première mondiale de The Lord of the Rings pour Mirvish Entertainment.
Fervente défenseuse de la communauté théâtrale canadienne, Alisa siège au comité directeur du Sommet des arts du Canada (dont elle a été présidente de 2020 à 2022) et au conseil d’administration du Musée du théâtre du Canada. Elle vient de terminer un mandat de onze ans en tant que première directrice artistique exécutive de la section anglaise de l’École nationale de théâtre du Canada, la seule école d’arts du pays à proposer une formation dans les deux langues officielles. Elle est également fondatrice et productrice artistique de Vita Brevis Arts, une compagnie qui se consacre au développement de projets théâtraux ambitieux et d’une actualité brûlante.

An award-winning theatre director, playwright, and producer, Alisa’s work is characterized by vivid performances, a bold use of music, powerful visuals and a passionate commitment to the body politic. Alisa’s productions have been celebrated in theatres across Canada and beyond including at the Shaw Festival, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (where she recently directed the world premiere of Hamlet-911 by Ann-Marie MacDonald) Canadian Stage and the NAC. Alisa recently directed and co-adapted (with Hannah Moscovitch) Fall On Your Knees which toured Canada in 2023 and will be returning to the stage at Crow’s Theatre in 2027.
Alisa was artistic director of Nightwood Theatre where she commissioned and produced landmark productions including Harlem Duet by Djanet Sears, and Smudge by Alex Bulmer, Canada’s first professional play by a visually impaired playwright. Alisa was resident director for the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings for Mirvish Entertainment.
A passionate supporter of Canada’s theatre community, Alisa serves on the Steering Committee for the Canadian Arts Summit, (Chair from in 2020 to 2022.) and on the Board of Directors for Canada’s Theatre Museum. Alisa recently completed an eleven-year tenure as Executive Artistic Director of the English Section of the National Theatre School of Canada, Canada’s only arts school providing training in both official languages. Alisa is Founder and Artistic Producer of Vita Brevis Arts, a company committed to the development of urgent and ambitious theatre projects.
